Each time unique, same but different, JetLAG has been known for constant change and reinvention. This year we celebrate this quality of our festival in this very particular way — and it led us to the title PERPETUA.

In Latin, perpetua means “everlasting,” but more than just that. Perpetuum mobile — motion sustained from within. In perpetuity — duration without a preset end. Saint Perpetua, a 3rd-century martyr from Carthage, associates with faith, fidelity, endurance, and inner force. These images depict continuity not as stasis, but as motion — persistence through change, steadfastness in the face of change.

Things change. Things stay the same. Some things change by staying the same. They hold their core while the surroundings shift — and in a changed landscape, the unchanged is no longer the same.

The Klezmatics & Joshua Nelson

Grammy-winning pioneers of modern klezmer, The Klezmatics celebrate 40 years at the forefront of global roots music with We Were Made For These Times — a bold new album and live program shaped by songs of protest, resilience, and radical joy. Blending Yiddish song with Black gospel, Latin rhythms, and avant-jazz, the band transforms tradition into a living, evolving musical language — urgent, joyful, and deeply relevant today. For this program, The Klezmatics are joined by Joshua Nelson, the acclaimed “Prince of Kosher Gospel,” bringing Yiddish roots and gospel power into a shared musical space.

Omar Torrez and Printz Board

Omar Torrez’s musical recipe is equal parts post-modern rock, Mexican and Cuban son, gutbucket blues, stunning guitar wizardry, and soulful songwriting. He first gained recognition as a finalist at the Jimi Hendrix Guitar Competition at Seattle’s Bumbershoot Festival, performing on a borrowed guitar, and is best known for playing with Tom Waits on the Glitter and Doom world tour. More recently, he has collaborated with legendary Russian singer-songwriter Boris Grebenshikov. Omar is joined by Grammy-winning multi-instrumentalist, producer, songwriter, and singer Printz Board, best known for his work with Black Eyed Peas and the production group Bucky Jonson.

Mariposas Galácticas

Mariposas Galácticas is an 8-piece Cumbia Klezmer Punk band based in Philly. Combining band members’ South American and Jewish ancestries, the band creates a unique diasporic sound that gets audiences everywhere dancing with rebellious joy. By honoring their Indigenous Andean musical heritage, blended together with punkified ancient Jewish melodies, the band plays a mixture of original and classic tunes that span different languages, cultures, and genres. Mariposas have collaborated with international acts like Os Mutantes, Son Rompe Pera and Kumbia Queers, and they continue to accompany their communities’ struggle for liberation everywhere from prominent stages to cultural, activist and community spaces.

ReBelle

Co-founded by Manou Africa and Kalpana Devi, ReBelle is a roots reggae and soul project rooted in African liberation, Rasta consciousness, visionary feminine power, and a deep love for humanity and Gaia. Singing in Wolof, Creole, French, and English, ReBelle brings together ceremony, protest, and celebration, with harmonies, chants, and rhythms grounded in the ancestral drum. Since joining creative forces in 1994, Manou and Kalpana have performed and toured across the U.S. and West Africa, creating music that carries stories of sufferation, justice, love, unity, and triumph. ReBelle has shared stages with reggae greats including The Wailers, Burning Spear, Toots and the Maytals, Steel Pulse, and Culture, while continuing to build spaces for music, activism, and collective healing.

Equal parts nervous energy, humor, political frustration, and barely-held-together disorder, their songs often feel like they are mutating in real time without ever losing momentum.

Pike and Star Coop

Kooperativ Zvezda (also known as “Pike and Star Coop”) are underground veterans led by their tireless frontman and chief songwriter known as Pike Zvezdochkin. While nominally a punk rock band, their sound moves freely across styles — from old romance to rap — brought to life with unpredictable, high-energy stage performances. The lineup features Boston-based musicians Igor Pokhis, Sasha Sverlov, and Ksyusha Po, joined by Sasha Drey and Pike’s partner in life and art, the poet and provocateur KataXXXreza. Together they deliver a set built around the band’s strongest recent material, alongside a selection of brand-new premieres.

Robber Crabs

Miracle Johan

This story begins a long time in the future, when Miracle Johan crash landed on Earth through a space portal of sorts. He crash landed into the tundra and discovered that his powers were enhanced when in the earth’s atmosphere. Realizing he had unlimited powers on this planet, he decided he must use them for good. These days, this looks a lot like a 3-piece rock band with some of the oldest friends continuing to mine time and space in an effort to eradicate arbitrary constraints.

Alexey Paperny

Alexey Paperny is a musician, poet, playwright, and director, and a prominent figure of the independent Russian-language cultural scene. He is the founder and frontman of Paperny T.A.M., whose songs have achieved cult status across several generations of listeners. Paperny’s work also spans theater and playwriting: his play won a Fringe First in Edinburgh in 1991, and he has authored and directed many experimental theater projects. He was also behind two landmark cultural spaces in Moscow, vital hubs for independent music, theater, and cross-cultural performance. Since leaving Russia in 2022, he has continued to perform internationally, often appearing in a chamber acoustic duo with his son Sasha on bass, sustaining his distinctive dialogue with audiences through song, rhythm, word, and theatrical act.

Led by virtuosic guitarist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Zhenya Rock — leader of Balkan Laikas, founding member and lead guitarist of Red Elvises through 2004, and creator of Zeegrass with Pat Mastelotto of King Crimson — the project moves fluidly between traditions and atmospheres, from intimate acoustic moments to explosive dance-floor momentum. Alongside him, Nataly adds movement, theatricality, and a magnetic presence that transforms each set into its own unpredictable experience.

Bardyachaya Sobaka

Bardyachaya Sobaka is a theatrical songwriter and performer collective, creators of a festival of the same name and a beloved presence at East Coast cultural gatherings. Known for performances that are both playful and culturally rich, they work in the style of teatral’ny kapustnik — a genre combining satire, parody, song, and literary wit. They present The Capricious Prince, a retelling of Alexei Tolstoy’s The Golden Key and the broader Buratino narrative, a culturally central Soviet-era adaptation of the Pinocchio story that spans multiple generations through film and theatre. The work is reinterpreted as a vaudeville and, as is often the case with Bardyachaya Sobaka, draws on Roma musical and theatrical traditions.

Two outstanding New York musicians bring Na Dvoikh, an intimate acoustic program built around song and poetry. The repertoire ranges from Frank Sinatra and Leonard Cohen to the songs of Mark Freidkin and his poetic Russian translations of Georges Brassens. Gary Katz, widely known for his tribute concerts devoted to iconic singers while also composing original symphonic music, will be joined by pianist and jazz saxophonist Andrey Matlin, a member of Blueberry Muffins and other musical projects, and an important figure in the de facto house band of Spell Art stage. Together they present an evening where Sinatra, Cohen, Brassens, and Freidkin meet in a wonderful trip.

Lev and Olga Frayman are a Minneapolis-based musical duo who have performed together for over 20 years, blending acoustic Russian bardic songs with rock and roll, bossa nova, and other world music traditions. The married couple is highly active in the local Ukrainian community and known for their guitar improvisations and powerful harmonies. Joining them is Volodymyr Gitin, a virtuoso clarinetist and conductor from Odesa, Ukraine, and a key member of the Ukrainian folk band Kommuna Lux, which blends Odesa songs, klezmer, and Ukrainian folk music.

This tribute concert celebrates the 100th birthday of Aleksandr Zatsepin, one of the most influential Soviet and Russian composers of popular music, whose film work produced a vast catalogue of songs that became cultural “memes” long before the internet era. His music is deeply embedded in the memory of everyone who grew up in the USSR, forming part of a shared sonic vocabulary across generations, while also carrying a distinct Western pop sensibility—melodic, catchy, and rhythmically light, often blending cinematic storytelling with accessible form. Over decades, these songs moved far beyond their original films to become standalone cultural references, continuously performed, reinterpreted, and instantly recognizable as part of everyday musical language.

Taras Shuplat

Taras Shuplat and Ilya Gitelman have been performing together for around fifteen years within the bardic song tradition, appearing at festivals, concerts, and song gatherings across the United States. Long active in the community, they were also laureates of the historic Samarskie Bardy festival and the original Grusha in the later years of those festivals' classic era. Their repertoire combines Taras's own songs—both to his own lyrics and to poems by other authors—with interpretations of works by fellow songwriters including Igor Kuzmin, Semyon Bystryak, and Masha Shkolnik, alongside songs in Ukrainian such as Taras's setting of a poem by Misha Yudovsky and Sviatoslav Vakarchuk's Misto Vesny.

I Dressed Like Him

Claude “CJ” Johnson is a Brooklyn-based dancer, choreographer, and movement director originally from Chicago. A graduate of The Chicago Academy for the Arts and SUNY Purchase College, he has performed works by major choreographers including Merce Cunningham, Trisha Brown, Twyla Tharp, Mark Morris, and Aszure Barton, and was a full-time company dancer with A.I.M. by Kyle Abraham from 2017 to 2022. As a performer, choreographer, and Black queer artist, CJ approaches dance as a powerful catalyst for self-expression, social change, and the translation of human experience. His work I Dressed Like Him reveals a shifting series of personas through a single outfit, blending Butoh, poetry, sound, raw physicality, and dark humor into a haunting, rhythmic dance story.

Mother Pigeon’s Revival, formerly Mother Pigeon’s Impeckable Puppet Show, is the larger-than-life musical entertainment wing of Mother Pigeon’s Workshop. Based on the real-life adventures of renowned New York City wildlife artist Mother Pigeon/Tina Piña and her wild downtown friends — Frankie the Pigeon, Max the Rat, and Roman the Raccoon — the show brings back the grand old days of sing-alongs, jamborees, home-spun fun, and handcrafted art. With theatrical songs for everyone, messages and stories from animal friends, and lyric books for the audience, Mother Pigeon’s Revival invites everybody to sing along.

A Filipino-American visual and theater artist based in Brooklyn, Maria works in the space between ritual, play, healing, and speculative storytelling, building immersive experiences where inner landscapes become collective worlds. She will also lead Fun Sticker Workshop to Align with Your Best Energetic Signature, a guided creative session combining meditation, visualization, and sticker-making. Participants will imagine and design new “internal programs” to interrupt limiting patterns and install fresh energies into everyday life, leaving with handmade symbolic reminders for laptops, water bottles, notebooks, and beyond.

Druga Duga

What do an electric harp, didgeridoo, and a balloon pipe organ have in common? They’re all part of Druga Duga, a time-traveling, future-folk opera born out of a rainbow in neo-Yugoslavia (Year 4120). Bringing free-improv jazz, holy fool theatrics, psychedelia, and Bulgarian State Television Female Vocal Choir aesthetics, their whimsical, "hope-core" performance explores intuition and love in defiance of inner darkness (with audience participation). Including Gillian Harrill, Theo Akpinar, Bodhi Dayal, Matt Genkin, and costumes by Luna Gomberg, the band, understanding string theory, believes the world vibrates as a massive symphony. Their concerts are immersive, interactive events featuring spontaneous improvisations and Ancient Babylonian chants. Audiences are guided through gibberish-sung songs, invited to play human instruments, and treated to an aggressively protected, comically large stage lever and an exploration of silence. Matt Genkin is a theater & music artist from NYC. Hands Can’t Space Bicycle centers on the life of a small tiny insect. The insect is completely unimportant & it really won’t matter at all to anyone whether it lives or dies. Furthermore, the creature is absolutely common, and to most people indistinguishable from millions of its kind, teeming in fields, trees, and kitchens. Even these masses are a detail that, for even the most observant landscape artists, is likely not worth a little fleck of brown paint (or perhaps purple or a woody red). Thus the main thrust of the show, and by extension the show itself, is superfluous and vastly unlikely to make much of a difference in anyone’s life. The audience is advised that small creatures may be attracted to food items and interesting-looking people.

Created and performed by Danielle Levsky, a child of post-Soviet family from Kyiv, Baba Yana draws on the holy fool tradition, physical comedy, and the gallows humor of the immigrant kitchen table. In this workshop, participants use clown techniques, trust exercises, and inner child work to shed social masks and reconnect with play, vulnerability, and authentic emotional expression. Through the practice of “beautiful failure,” the clown’s secret weapon, the workshop explores how letting go of the need to be competent or cool can open real connection and presence. No clown experience is necessary — only a willingness to look silly. Just don’t tell the evil merfolk hunter Rasperov, desperate for the rumored immortality serum within the scales of siren tales. In terms of her voice, Zoya will sing for you just a little bit in the water, but not so much as to alert her whereabouts to the skilled poacher on patrol. Zoya does enjoy switching to her mermaid form sometimes. It allows her to be playful in a new way.

Using drums, percussion, song, and improvised voice, they invite you into a circle where sound becomes a way of structuring attention and intention at the start of the festival. Ricardo is a multi-instrumentalist, educator, and sound explorer trained in Brazil and at the New England Conservatory, known for participatory musical work across generations, while Volga is a frame-drummer, songwriter, and ritual-oriented performer whose practice moves between jazz influence, global percussion, and chant-based forms.

Dragonian Domecile

Beware Dragonia’s Domecile, fore it is guarded by a fierce fiery dragon’s breath and the gust of its beating wings. If you can cross beyond her defenses, within her belly you will find safe haven and a modicum of her most prized possessions. Created by Eugene Zeleny and Ri Dresser, this installation doubles as an interactive motion sensing puppet and a place of respite. Inside, you will find shade, cozy floor pillows, and a treasure chest with dragons eggs containing gifts. We encourage each visitor to take an egg with them for good luck on their travels through the festival.

The Followers

Art Installation
The Followers is a contemporary reinterpretation of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. The installation depicts a joker-like Piper leading a procession of rats toward the water. The Piper is half human and half robotic, representing the seductive power of artificial intelligence. The rats willingly follow the Piper, unaware of the danger ahead. They symbolize humanity becoming hypnotized by technologies that constantly entertain, guide, and capture our attention. This installation was designed by Svetlana Yuzhelevskaya and brought to life by Boston-based artists, each of whom sculpted a rat. It is a collaborative artwork made possible through the creativity, generosity, and dedication of both the participating artists and the Boston community, whose support helped turn this vision into reality.

The Louisiana-born, Boston-based artist, Elsa the Fool, is a mixed media maker with a love for finding the whimsy in chaos. Inspired by food, music, and nature, she brings her ideas to life with interactive forms from hats to life-size puppets. Elsa is an avid believer in human creativity without the use of generative Artificial Intelligence. She aims to show those who are anxiously curious about making art how easy it truly is to create something from nothing. Elsa has hosted several Medieval-themed events in Boston as her own foolish Jester character. This will be her first step into festival installation art, and she is beyond excited to bring her work to JetLAG 2026. Inspired by her legendary chicken-legged hut, the cabins’ legs appear to be moving as the bass shakes the ground. Step into the world of Slavic legend reimagined for the festival scene, where Baba Yaga's lair pulses with basslines and her cauldron bubbles with beats. The booth, crafted with natural materials, is crowned by a gnarled roof adorned with sticks, lanterns, and symbols. The playlist is as unpredictable as Baba Yaga herself, blending deep house, forest trance, grimey riddim and eclectic world beats. Each DJ who takes the helm must "earn" the witch’s favor—whether by spinning a magical incantation or sharing a story of how they stumbled upon her mysterious grove. Friday, Aug. 14: The Tefillin Booth will be open all day. Shabbat Candle Lighting begins at 7:30 PM, including a memorial ceremony honoring the victims of the Nova Festival and October 7. Kabbalat Shabbat follows at 8:00 PM, with Kiddush and a communal Shabbat meal afterward.

Saturday, Aug. 15: Morning Services begin at 11:00 AM, followed by Torah Reading at 12:00 PM and Kiddush & Shabbat Meal at 1:30 PM. Omar Torrez’s musical recipe is equal parts post-modern rock, Mexican and Cuban son, gutbucket blues, stunning guitar wizardry, and soulful songwriting. He first gained recognition as a finalist at the Jimi Hendrix Guitar Competition at Seattle’s Bumbershoot Festival, performing on a borrowed guitar, and is best known for playing with Tom Waits on the Glitter and Doom world tour. More recently, he has collaborated with legendary Russian singer-songwriter Boris Grebenshikov. Omar is joined by Grammy-winning multi-instrumentalist, producer, songwriter, and singer Printz Board, best known for his work with Black Eyed Peas and the production group Bucky Jonson.

Claude “CJ” Johnson is a Brooklyn-based dancer, choreographer, and movement director originally from Chicago. A graduate of The Chicago Academy for the Arts and SUNY Purchase College, he has performed works by major choreographers including Merce Cunningham, Trisha Brown, Twyla Tharp, Mark Morris, and Aszure Barton, and was a full-time company dancer with A.I.M. by Kyle Abraham from 2017 to 2022. As a performer, choreographer, and Black queer artist, CJ approaches dance as a powerful catalyst for self-expression, social change, and the translation of human experience. His work I Dressed Like Him reveals a shifting series of personas through a single outfit, blending Butoh, poetry, sound, raw physicality, and dark humor into a haunting, rhythmic dance story.

What do an electric harp, didgeridoo, and a balloon pipe organ have in common? They’re all part of Druga Duga, a time-traveling, future-folk opera born out of a rainbow in neo-Yugoslavia (Year 4120). Bringing free-improv jazz, holy fool theatrics, psychedelia, and Bulgarian State Television Female Vocal Choir aesthetics, their whimsical, "hope-core" performance explores intuition and love in defiance of inner darkness (with audience participation). Including Gillian Harrill, Theo Akpinar, Bodhi Dayal, Matt Genkin, and costumes by Luna Gomberg, the band, understanding string theory, believes the world vibrates as a massive symphony. Their concerts are immersive, interactive events featuring spontaneous improvisations and Ancient Babylonian chants. Audiences are guided through gibberish-sung songs, invited to play human instruments, and treated to an aggressively protected, comically large stage lever and an exploration of silence. At the core of their whimsical storytelling is a message of radical optimism, often stopping the music to earnestly check in on how the audience is feeling, using the power of music to process the heavier realities of the human experience across time and space, seriousness and silliness.

Matt Genkin is a theater & music artist from NYC. Hands Can’t Space Bicycle centers on the life of a small tiny insect. The insect is completely unimportant & it really won’t matter at all to anyone whether it lives or dies. Furthermore, the creature is absolutely common, and to most people indistinguishable from millions of its kind, teeming in fields, trees, and kitchens. Even these masses are a detail that, for even the most observant landscape artists, is likely not worth a little fleck of brown paint (or perhaps purple or a woody red). Thus the main thrust of the show, and by extension the show itself, is superfluous and vastly unlikely to make much of a difference in anyone’s life. The audience is advised that small creatures may be attracted to food items and interesting-looking people.

Alexey Paperny is a musician, poet, playwright, and director, and a prominent figure of the independent Russian-language cultural scene. He is the founder and frontman of Paperny T.A.M., whose songs have achieved cult status across several generations of listeners. Paperny’s work also spans theater and playwriting: his play won a Fringe First in Edinburgh in 1991, and he has authored and directed many experimental theater projects. He was also behind two landmark cultural spaces in Moscow, vital hubs for independent music, theater, and cross-cultural performance. Since leaving Russia in 2022, he has continued to perform internationally, often appearing in a chamber acoustic duo with his son Sasha on bass, sustaining his distinctive dialogue with audiences through song, rhythm, word, and theatrical act.

Lev and Olga Frayman are a Minneapolis-based musical duo who have performed together for over 20 years, blending acoustic Russian bardic songs with rock and roll, bossa nova, and other world music traditions. The married couple is highly active in the local Ukrainian community and known for their guitar improvisations and powerful harmonies. Joining them is Volodymyr Gitin, a virtuoso clarinetist and conductor from Odesa, Ukraine, and a key member of the Ukrainian folk band Kommuna Lux, which blends Odesa songs, klezmer, and Ukrainian folk music.

This tribute concert celebrates the 100th birthday of Aleksandr Zatsepin, one of the most influential Soviet and Russian composers of popular music, whose film work produced a vast catalogue of songs that became cultural “memes” long before the internet era. His music is deeply embedded in the memory of everyone who grew up in the USSR, forming part of a shared sonic vocabulary across generations, while also carrying a distinct Western pop sensibility—melodic, catchy, and rhythmically light, often blending cinematic storytelling with accessible form. Over decades, these songs moved far beyond their original films to become standalone cultural references, continuously performed, reinterpreted, and instantly recognizable as part of everyday musical language.

Marat is a songwriter, guitarist, and performer whose original songs range from playful, humorous stories to deeply personal and dramatic narratives, often finding a surprising balance somewhere in between. Nora’s warm vocals and stage presence bring these songs to life, transforming them into conversations shared with the audience. Marat and Nora combine original songs, humor, storytelling, and the easy chemistry of two people who have spent decades making music and life together.

Taras Shuplat and Ilya Gitelman have been performing together for around fifteen years within the bardic song tradition, appearing at festivals, concerts, and song gatherings across the United States. Long active in the community, they were also laureates of the historic Samarskie Bardy festival and the original Grusha in the later years of those festivals' classic era. Their repertoire combines Taras's own songs—both to his own lyrics and to poems by other authors—with interpretations of works by fellow songwriters including Igor Kuzmin, Semyon Bystryak, and Masha Shkolnik, alongside songs in Ukrainian such as Taras's setting of a poem by Misha Yudovsky and Sviatoslav Vakarchuk's Misto Vesny.

VoicePlay Workshop with Mela Closs

VoicePlay is a joyful workshop for somatic and vocal exploration, inviting participants to use the voice as a tool for healing, expression, and embodied play. Through breathing techniques, vocal improvisation, body relaxation, deep listening, traditional somatic practices, and connection with inner sounds waiting to be expressed, the workshop creates a safe space for experimentation and discovery. It is led by Mela Closs, a Brooklyn-based voice ritualist and musician who creates playful experiences grounded in imagination, healing, and transformation. With a background in music and theater education, Mela uses movement, singing, breathing, ritual, and ceremony to help open new pathways of expression and empowerment; as a musician, she explores ambient, drone-heavy soundscapes and dramatic vocals in Zelenaya and solo performance-art projects.

The Sacred Fool: A Clown Workshop with Baba Yana

Baba Yana is the Soviet Jewish grandma clown you didn’t know you needed. Created and performed by Danielle Levsky, a child of post-Soviet family from Kyiv, Baba Yana draws on the holy fool tradition, physical comedy, and the gallows humor of the immigrant kitchen table. In this workshop, participants use clown techniques, trust exercises, and inner child work to shed social masks and reconnect with play, vulnerability, and authentic emotional expression. Through the practice of “beautiful failure,” the clown’s secret weapon, the workshop explores how letting go of the need to be competent or cool can open real connection and presence. No clown experience is necessary — only a willingness to look silly. Danielle is a certified clown teacher, yoga instructor, performer, and producer whose original clown theater has appeared at Lincoln Center, Philadelphia Fringe Festival, and venues across the U.S.

Maria Camia's Fun Sticker Workshop to Align with Best Energetic Signature

As an Introspective Hypnosis Practitioner since 2020, Maria sees the pattern of limiting programs placed in childhood creating disturbance later in life. Join her in this creative sticker workshop to imagine a new internal program to override old habits and mentalities. In this workshop, Maria will lead a guided meditation to feel the current energies in our bodies and later, all will imagine what energies they wish to install in their bodies to live a more fun life. Participants will create and leave with a sticker to put on their water bottle, laptop, or somewhere important to remind them of their new program whenever they see it. Feel it, then become it! Maria Camia, a Brooklyn-based, Filipino-American Spiritual/Sci-Fi Introspective Hypnosis Visual/Theater Artist, has dedicated 13 ongoing years to creating Aricama, the land of practice play and healing in pursuit to make imagination useful in a traumatized society. She has performed original work for JACK, HEREarts, La MaMa Experimental Club, Kino Saito, Chicago International Puppet Festival, Dixon Place, and others. Maria received the PGOGNY BIPOC Scholarship, The Jim Henson Workshop and Production Grants for her full length shows NEW MONY! and THE HEALING SHIPMENT. Maria is also an Introspective Hypnosis Practitioner where she guides clients one-on-one through the subconscious to bring more empowerment into the body.

Mimebaby Workshop

MK and Heather– two philadelphia-based, pig-ironed, stage idiots, are cofounders of mimebaby theater. Their training and curiosities have led them to each other and into the fires of absurdism and physical language. By adopting childlike play, they thrust their bodies into work that twists words, tickles bellies, flips forms upside down and sideways. They use this pleasure-driven method of creation to highlight the unseriousness of being serious in order for people to see a grotesque version of their world and laugh at it. They are inspired by Elena Ferrante, the Vlogbrothers, Nathan Fielder, and all clowns. They aim to make audiences squirm and delight in their questionable audacity.

Community Garden Puppets Workshop

Mermaiding with Zoya Sunbody

Shhhh I’ll let you in on a secret…. Zoya Sunbody turns into a mermaid if she touches water! Bring your swimsuit, because after her harp opera in the Timecastle, she will lead everyone down to the lake to literally play mermaids. “Play” might be the wrong word, because she actually secretly is a real mermaid. Just don’t tell the evil merfolk hunter Rasperov, desperate for the rumored immortality serum within the scales of siren tales. In terms of her voice, Zoya will sing for you just a little bit in the water, but not so much as to alert her whereabouts to the skilled poacher on patrol. Zoya does enjoy switching to her mermaid form sometimes. It allows her to be playful in a new way.

Ricardo Frota and Volga Bo (Wellbees Village) have been playing together since 2010, bringing music shaped by voice, rhythm, and attentive listening. For this gathering, they open the festival space through shared sound and collective presence, drawing loosely on Indigenous frameworks of gratitude and orientation toward place. Using drums, percussion, song, and improvised voice, they invite you into a circle where sound becomes a way of structuring attention and intention at the start of the festival. Ricardo is a multi-instrumentalist, educator, and sound explorer trained in Brazil and at the New England Conservatory, known for participatory musical work across generations, while Volga is a frame-drummer, songwriter, and ritual-oriented performer whose practice moves between jazz influence, global percussion, and chant-based forms.

He has traveled and studied with players across Croatia, Austria, Spain, and France, learning from some of the world’s leading didgeridoo musicians. Combining deep didgeridoo vibrations with the pulse of a cajón kick drum, Bodhi creates a powerful movement experience — something physical, resonant, and felt through the whole body. He will also appear as a wandering performer, welcoming guests with the primal, grounding voice of the didgeridoo as they journey from parking lot to camping and check-in.

The Perpetua Parade is a beautifully chaotic train winding its way through the terrain of Camp Little Notch. Led by the Neo-Yugoslavian experimental band Druga Duga and Community Garden Puppets, this procession is a loud, joyful tribute to the dizzy, beautiful haze of perpetual jetLAG. Everyone is invited to jump into the slipstream, grab a sound toy, or just scream, bang pots, and make some noise with some giant puppets. It is an ecstatic march through the camp — a celebration of getting lost in the rhythm and staying in that blissful jetLAG forever.

Dragonian Domecile

Beware Dragonia’s Domecile, fore it is guarded by a fierce fiery dragon’s breath and the gust of its beating wings. If you can cross beyond her defenses, within her belly you will find safe haven and a modicum of her most prized possessions. Created by Eugene Zeleny and Ri Dresser, this installation doubles as an interactive motion sensing puppet and a place of respite. Inside, you will find shade, cozy floor pillows, and a treasure chest with dragons eggs containing gifts. We encourage each visitor to take an egg with them for good luck on their travels through the festival.

The Followers

The Followers is a contemporary reinterpretation of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. The installation depicts a joker-like Piper leading a procession of rats toward the water. The Piper is half human and half robotic, representing the seductive power of artificial intelligence. The rats willingly follow the Piper, unaware of the danger ahead. They symbolize humanity becoming hypnotized by technologies that constantly entertain, guide, and capture our attention. This installation was designed by Svetlana Yuzhelevskaya and brought to life by Boston-based artists, each of whom sculpted a rat. It is a collaborative artwork made possible through the creativity, generosity, and dedication of both the participating artists and the Boston community, whose support helped turn this vision into reality.

The Moss Spinner

The Louisiana-born, Boston-based artist, Elsa the Fool, is a mixed media maker with a love for finding the whimsy in chaos. Inspired by food, music, and nature, she brings her ideas to life with interactive forms from hats to life-size puppets. Elsa is an avid believer in human creativity without the use of generative Artificial Intelligence. She aims to show those who are anxiously curious about making art how easy it truly is to create something from nothing. Elsa has hosted several Medieval-themed events in Boston as her own foolish Jester character. This will be her first step into festival installation art, and she is beyond excited to bring her work to JetLAG 2026. Be sure to keep an eye out for her piece “The Moss Spinner,” which can be found amidst the woodland in the trees.

Pochemuchki

Deep in the heart of the forest, where the trees whisper secrets and moonlight dances on the mossy ground, Baba Yaga invites you to her enchanted DJ booth: a mystical fusion of folklore, music, and magic. Inspired by her legendary chicken-legged hut, the cabins’ legs appear to be moving as the bass shakes the ground. Step into the world of Slavic legend reimagined for the festival scene, where Baba Yaga's lair pulses with basslines and her cauldron bubbles with beats. The booth, crafted with natural materials, is crowned by a gnarled roof adorned with sticks, lanterns, and symbols. The playlist is as unpredictable as Baba Yaga herself, blending deep house, forest trance, grimey riddim and eclectic world beats. Each DJ who takes the helm must "earn" the witch’s favor—whether by spinning a magical incantation or sharing a story of how they stumbled upon her mysterious grove. Come enjoy the music from the nearby zen palace chill spaces, and if you're lucky you may even find the secret sasquatch society.

Chabad-Chaos

Chabad-Chaos returns with a full weekend of Shabbat programming, including services, a jam zone, inspiring conversations, Shabbat meals, and plenty of l'chaim. Rabbi Eli Kogan will be on hand throughout the weekend.

Friday, Aug. 14: The Tefillin Booth will be open all day. Shabbat Candle Lighting begins at 7:30 PM, including a memorial ceremony honoring the victims of the Nova Festival and October 7. Kabbalat Shabbat follows at 8:00 PM, with Kiddush and a communal Shabbat meal afterward.

Saturday, Aug. 15: Morning Services begin at 11:00 AM, followed by Torah Reading at 12:00 PM and Kiddush & Shabbat Meal at 1:30 PM. Afternoon Shabbat Conversations include Mystical Secrets of Shabbat with Eli Kogan (4:00 PM), Where in Life Are We Waiting for Someone Else to Make the First Move with Avraham Sandler (5:00 PM), Jewish Law as the Theoretical Physics of Many Worlds with Arye Dubinsky (6:00 PM), and Is it a Mitzvah to Be Happy? with Yehuda Pevzner (7:00 PM). JetLAG-2025: EUPHONIA!

When we say JetLAG is about Good Music — and we have always said that — we don’t limit “music” to its narrow meaning. For all the sages of sound, from Pythagoras to Bach, music is a synonym for the beauty of cosmic order, the symphonia of creation.

This brings us to the concept of Euphonia. Sounds much like Euphoria — the spelling difference is less than a letter. But meaning-wise, Euphonia is harmony, not elation; a pure joy, not fleeting ecstasy.

The word comes from Ancient Greek, the language Pythagoras spoke. “Eu” means good, well. “Phone” stands for sound, voice. “Euphonia” means a comforting, inspiring, uplifting synergy of sounds. The term can apply to all things melodic, musical, good-sounding. Its antonym is kakophonia, bad sound. And where there is Euphonia, there is no cacophony. Or if there is, it only supports beauty in its own way.

In the mid-19th century, composer Hector Berlioz imagined a city Euphonia, where music ruled, harmony was law, the conductor the soul. Around the same time, serendipitously, a talking machine Euphonia was created and exhibited—an awesome visual and acoustic installation. Featuring a human mask, it simulated our speech through a combination of piano, bellows, mechanical vocal organs. Euphonia is also the name of a beautiful, colorful bird celebrated for its sweet song. And JetLAG recalls all of these—a "city" where nature, culture, and technology blend in a single symphonia: Euphonia.

When we say JetLAG is about Good Music, we mean a world united by the beautiful power of harmony. We mean a space where sounds, vibes, rhythms foster unity, empathy, collective creativity, the spirit of encounter, joy, and love. We mean Euphonia.

Euphonia means good sound. Euphonia sounds good. You-phonia means you. You sound good. Welcome to the City of Music!
